GT Omega x Sidemen
We have been working with Sidemen since June 2016 and we created a custom-designed Sidemen which was our first ever Licensed Product. Due to the success of this chair, we created a new, premium Sidemen chair in 2019.
In this blog, we will give you a brief overview of who Sidemen are, why we chose to work with Sidemen and some more information about our partnership with this massive YouTube group.
Who are Sidemen?
Sidemen need no introduction. They are one of the biggest and most popular YouTube groups in the world right now. If you don’t know who they are, where have you been?!
The group consists of seven YouTubers (KSI, Minimister, Zerkaa, TBJZL, Behzinga, Vikkstar123 & W2S) and their content is a mix of hilarious challenges, comedy sketches and video game commentary. Today, they have just over 18 million subscribers on their main YouTube channel; as well as an average of 5 million views on their side YouTube channels.
Sidemen officially started in 2013 with the group streaming and playing Grand Theft Auto V Online together. Over the years, the group’s popularity grew exponentially and their content ranges from streaming games to pranks and challenges. They have even extended their brand and have their own range of alcohol and a football team who hosts charity matches with many well known YouTubers and celebrities partaking such as Mr Beast, Pieface, JME, Chunkz and many more.
GT Omega x Sidemen
As previously mentioned, the GT Omega x Sidemen collaboration began in 2016. We saw Sidemen as an up-and-coming UK brand that spoke to the same audience as us. This was the perfect brand for us to work with as their values aligned with ours.
From the partnership, Sidemen were looking for custom-branded chairs to increase their brand awareness and give their fans a product that fits with their brand.
Our aim for the partnership was to create a licensed product that could show off the Sidemen brand on a quality chair for fans of Sidemen.
We worked alongside Sidemen to create something that shows the essence of the Sidemen brand along with a good quality office chair. We wanted to create a chair that was aesthetically pleasing and would be suitable for long hours of gaming.
The proof of the chair’s success lay with our social media team who utilised our social channels and pushed the chair. Perhaps an even bigger shout-out was the fact that the Sidemen themselves used the chairs in their videos and this provided fans of Sidemen with social proof that the chairs were quality.
Both chairs were, and continue to be, a massive success for both ourselves and the Sidemen. Many GT Omega loyal customers have purchased the chair and Sidemen fans have been buying into the chair.
The partnership was further enhanced when we exhibited at Sidemen’s Upload Event in 2017. The event was held in Tobacco Dock in London and over the weekend there were around 10,000 attendees and many more attended online. This was a huge event for the Sidemen and it was great fun for our team who travelled down and engaged with many of the attendees.
